Join our Water Utility Team! The City of Marinette is seeking a Water Systems Operations Specialist to join our Water Utility team at the state-of-the-art Microfiltration Water Treatment Plant in Marinette, WI. This position performs a variety of skilled operational, maintenance, and repair duties related to the City’s water treatment and distribution systems. Responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining treatment equipment, inspecting, and repairing system components, assisting with laboratory activities, recording treatment process data, and supporting customer service and metering operations.
This position plays an important role in helping ensure the safe and efficient delivery of high-quality drinking water to the community.
The typical work schedule is Wednesday - Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm and Saturday 7:00am to 7:00pm, with rotating holidays. New employees receive vacation, sick leave, and floating holidays in accordance with City policy beginning on the first day of employment.
Salary: The 2026 hourly pay for this position is $25.26 - $31.58/hour plus excellent benefits package. This position includes step increases and annual COLA pending City Council approval. Employees will be automatically enrolled in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), a pension to help provide for financial security during retirement, which consists of employer and employee contributions.
Qualifications :
Vocational or technical training in plumbing, equipment repair, welding, water utility operations, or a related field with two years of equipment maintenance and repair experience preferred. Working knowledge of surface water treatment processes is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to obtain a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Surface Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification within six months of hire is required.
Residency :
Applicant shall maintain a bona fide residence within a thirty-mile radius of the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Marinette.
