Specialty chemical company in northern Wisconsin is looking for a Process Project Engineer for their facility near Green Bay WI. The Process/Project Engineer will provide process support and technical expertise to improve the quality and reliability of plant production and operation. Work with a variety of team members to support and improve plant safety, quality, and reliability initiatives. Evaluate equipment performance and implement improvement ideas.
Will provide technical support for existing processes and systems. Manage capital projects that vary from small ($1MM). Duties Support process start-ups by leading design and installation of equipment and support process requirements. Provide off-shift coverage as needed for production start-ups. Extended hours, night and weekend coverage may be required for special projects. Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
Identify and implement process optimizations to improve batch times, increase yield, and reduce cost. Manage capital projects that vary from small ($1MM) as directed by Engineering Manager Aid Operations in troubleshooting process issues. Collaborating with plant team to solve complex problems. Evaluating equipment performance. Identifying, justifying, and implementing process improvements. Debottlenecking processes to improve batch times. Providing technical assistance to maintenance, lab, safety, and operations.
Training operators and other plant personnel when needed. Create process flow diagrams and P&IDs for new processes. Provide support to maintenance department by confirming equipment specifications, developing PFD & P&, piping/fabrication isometrics and instrumentation schedules. Support operations in training initiatives by leading classroom and field training sessions on engineering and maintenance topics. Develop Engineering Operating Procedures for new equipment. Attend meetings or activities to obtain strategic goals as related to the engineering department.
Participates in PSM activities such as PHA and process walk through as needed to support production. Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving engineering-related problems. Tracks, analyzes, and improves key engineering parameters such as project budgets, equipment downtime, etc. Participate in goal setting and development of plant performance metrics.
B.S., Chemical Engineering. 5 or more years of experience in a chemical plant/production environment preferred. Exposure to a PSM regulate facility would be ideal. Experience in materials of construction evaluation and chemical compatibility. Strong knowledge and understanding of business/finance. Self-driven/motivated to seek out and take on responsibility with little supervision. Positive and reinforcing attitude. Good communication skills; able to lead a small group of 3-5 people;
effective writing and presentation skills. Can generate Return on Investment (ROI) justification reports. Can track and trend progress and set measurable goals. Able to maintain an organized workspace and maintain easily retrievable files.
