PositionSummary
The Senior Buyer is responsible for contributing to the competitive status and profitable operation of the company through creative sourcing and procuring of materials and services in a timely manner and at an optimum value. This role will act as the primary contact between suppliers and internal customers; managing supplier performance, flow of material to yard, request for quotes, purchase order placement, expedite deliveries and correct receipt discrepancies;
promptly communicating any material shortages, late deliveries or non-conformances; spearheading solutions to mitigate disruption to the production schedule; and understanding and maintaining the ERP system to provide accurate information to all departments.
Domestic travel may be required.
Essential Functions- Develop, implement and participate in economical procurement methods, value analysis programs, etc.
- Create purchase orders to meet in yard dates, manage supplier performance, and enter and maintain pricing, supplier database, orders in the ERP system
- Communicate with Engineering, Production, Finance, Warehousing and Purchasing on material specifications, expediting, invoice reconciliations, receiving/inventory discrepancies, RFQ's, supplier performance and receiving discrepancies
- Execute and expedite the procurement of goods and services, developing cost savings plans and administering progress payment process
- Other duties as assigned
