INDUS supports the planning, coordination, and installation activities of Combat System and Command, Control, Communications, Computer, and Intelligence (C5I) Systems in aircraft carriers, and other strike group or strike force units (including but not limited to LHA, LHD, LPD, and other L-Class units). Our team is directly responsible for supporting the planning, budgeting, and execution of New Construction (SCN) testing and modernization efforts in support of the Modernization and Installation Department (N Department), Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Port Hueneme Division (PHD).
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Multi-Mission Surface Combatant (MMSC) Combat Systems Project Engineer supports NSWC Port Hueneme Division (PHD) efforts to plan, coordinate, and execute Combat Systems C4I/ICS modernization, installation, testing, and maintenance. The Project Engineer serves as the central engineering point of contact during ship construction and modernization availabilities on the
CVN/L-Class Support Services contract
. The ideal candidate has experience serving as the central point of contact for all Combat System C4I & Integrated Combat Systems (ICS) modernization, maintenance, repair, and testing efforts during planning and execution phases. This position is located in Marinette, WI.
- Communicate with PEO IWS, PMS 525, NSWC PHD, other NAVSEA Warfare Centers, and industry representatives to ensure mutual understanding of requirements, schedule coordination, and installation, modernization, and repair status through weekly reporting and direct communication on emergent or time-sensitive issues.
- Function in a shipboard environment, including climbing, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ensure installations and upgrades are completed in accordance with applicable standards, policies, instructions, drawings, designs, and planned baseline configurations.
- Coordinate and advise on-site Government and industry Subject Matter Experts during construction, modernization, and installation availabilities.
- Interpret ship drawings during planning and execution to verify space layouts, existing equipment, and installation requirements.
- Assess and report installation, modernization, repair, and testing progress for equipment aboard vessels undergoing availability, including reviewing AIT C4I and ICSS installation and test packages to ensure testing objectives are met and personnel requirements are identified.
- Maintain familiarity with shipboard combat systems and U.S. Navy new construction testing principles.
- Perform technical reviews of availability planning materials, execution processes, new construction events, and supporting documentation; identify and report discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain Test Sequence Networks (TSNs) by reviewing proposed alterations, repairs, construction change instructions, drawings, certification manuals, formal test procedures, and other technical documentation to identify testing requirements and maintain awareness of testing status and critical paths.
- Coordinate at-sea test planning to support problem identification and resolution and meet underway test requirements. Advise the availability team of issues that may impact installations, production work, or test objectives.
- Coordinate with test and installation teams, shipyards, shipyard management, vessel crews, and maintenance teams to ensure required support, ranges, personnel, equipment, calibrations, HM&E, and other resources are available for testing. Identify and resolve issues impacting test objectives.
- Provide timely on-site and remote technical expertise to resolve issues affecting modernization, installation, repair, and testing efforts and actively participate in related meetings and processes.
- Identify, track, and resolve Combat Systems certification requirements and issues.
- Develop Compartment Release Schedules for testing, identifying required support services such as HVAC, chilled water, and power by space, and participate in Compartment Release inspections.
- Provide comprehensive weekly status reports covering Combat Systems testing and installation progress, schedules, issues, risks, and recommended Courses of Action.
