Job Description

The Marion School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate fully licensed 1st grade Teacher to join our innovative, dynamic learning community. Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that classroom and curriculum meet Marion pedagogy and Arkansas Academic State Standards for every subject area assigned.
  • Adhering to the Code of Ethics set forth by the Arkansas Department of Education.
  • Evaluating and maintaining complete and accurate files regarding students’ academic progress and physical, social and emotional growth, and communicating with parents or guardians on individual student progress.
  • Planning and evaluating daily lessons that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Identifying the needs of a group of students, as well as individual students, and providing for continuous assessment of their abilities and differentiated instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Providing instruction, organization and management in the classroom to create a respectful environment conducive to learning.
  • Supervising students both in and out of the classroom in a respectful and positive manner.
  • Engaging in the appropriate use of space, equipment, and material storage.
  • Creating and maintaining a healthy and safe environment within the classroom and the school.
  • Adhering to all school systems, protocols and policies developed.
  • Maintaining professional competence through participation in school‑provided in‑service activities and/or self‑selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilities.
  • Initiating, planning and participating in parent/guardian conferences and other contacts, as well as sending written information home about class activities in a timely manner.
  • Fulfilling other assigned duties as prescribed by the Principal/Supervisor.
  • Maintaining a valid Arkansas teaching license registered in the manner required by law during employment.
School Participation and Team Work
  • Arriving at work on time, punctually attending, and actively participating in all required meetings and training.
  • Being a respectful, cooperative, and reliable team member and participant in school activities.
  • Consulting with the Principal or designee in a timely fashion to address the needs of students who are struggling.
  • Communicating and coordinating with subject teachers regarding lessons, child behavior, parent communication, and reports through regular meetings.
  • Participating on required committees as prescribed by the Principal.
  • Participating in the assessment and planning of curriculum development and other programs to meet the needs of the school.
  • Attending regular supervisory meetings with the Principal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Fostering a nurturing classroom environment that respects all students and encourages them to do their best.
  • Respecting the confidentiality of information about enrolled children and families, personnel issues, contributors, and other school operations.
  • Being able to multi‑task and act independently while exercising sound judgment.
  • Committing to building a diverse community.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations and policies.
Essential Functions

Language: Must have superior expressive and receptive English language skills to communicate with and be understood by students, co‑workers and parents, receiving their responses and responding appropriately.

Sensory: Must be able to track and observe students in a 360‑degree classroom, gym or cafeteria environment to ensure compliance and safety; able to visually or otherwise access written and printed content and respond verbally and in writing; able to understand and respond to verbal expressions of others, often in a noisy environment with multiple speakers and background noise, or outside.
