Marion School District seeks the following Special Education Teachers for the District in Marion, AR:
Special Education Teachers (grades K-6) and Special Education Teachers (Secondary) grades 7-12.
- Provide students with Special Education instruction, implementing Individual Education Plans in class, group & individual settings.
- Ensure classroom and curriculum meet Marion pedagogy and Arkansas Academic State Standards for every subject area assigned.
- Adhere to Code of Ethics as set forth by Arkansas Department of Education.
- Evaluate and maintain complete, accurate files regarding students' academic progress, physical, social, and emotional growth, and communicate with parents or guardians on individual student progress.
- Plan and evaluate developmentally appropriate daily lessons.
- Identify the needs of a group of students, as well as individual students, and provide continuous assessment and differentiated instruction to meet individual needs.
- Provide instruction, organization, and management in the classroom to create a respectful environment conducive to learning.
- Supervise students both in and out of the classroom in a respectful and positive manner.
- Ensure appropriate use of space, equipment, and material storage.
- Create and maintain a healthy and safe environment within the classroom and school.
- Adhere to all school systems, protocols, and policies that are developed.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in school‑provided in‑service activities and/or self‑selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilities.
- Initiate, plan, and participate in parent/guardian conferences and other contacts, and send written information home about class activities in a timely manner.
- Consult with Principal or designee to address needs of students who are struggling.
- Communicate and coordinate with subject teachers regarding lessons, child behavior, parent communication, and reports through regular meetings.
- Participate on required committees as prescribed by Principal.
- Participate in assessment and planning of curriculum development and other programs to meet the needs of the school.
- Attend regular supervisory meetings with Principal.
- Respect confidentiality of information about enrolled children and families, personnel issues, contributors, and other school operations, as per FERPA regulations and policies.
- Be required to undergo background and reference checks.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
- Must hold, or be eligible for, the relevant Standard Arkansas Educator License in Special Education (unless falling under the legal exception).
- Valid background and reference checks.
