Assistant Principal
The Assistant Principal supports the Building Principal in providing instructional leadership, fostering a positive school climate, and ensuring the effective operation of the school. This role is essential in promoting student achievement, supporting staff development, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all scholars.
Qualifications:
To perform this role successfully, the Assistant Principal must be able to carry out essential duties effectively and with a high level of proficiency. The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, and the capacity to support instructional leadership and school operations. Additionally, the Assistant Principal must demonstrate sound judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with staff, students, and families to promote a positive and productive school environment.
This position requires:
- Education:
Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or related field - Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative Endorsement
- Successful teaching experience (K8 preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a school setting preferred

Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Leadership:
Support the implementation of district curriculum, instructional programs, and assessment practices Assist in monitoring student achievement data to inform instructional decisions Participate in classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers to improve instructional practices Support professional development initiatives aligned to district goals - School Operations & Management:
Assist in the daily operations of the school, including scheduling, supervision, and coordination of activities Support the enforcement of district policies, procedures, and the student code of conduct Maintain a safe and orderly school environment Oversee attendance, student records, and compliance with state and district requirements - Student Support & Discipline:
Address student behavior concerns using restorative and equitable practices Support social-emotional learning initiatives and student wellness Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and support staff to meet student needs - Staff Collaboration & Support:
Build positive relationships with staff and foster a collaborative school culture Assist in staff supervision, evaluation processes, and performance feedback Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of high-quality staff - Family & Community Engagement:
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and school initiatives Support family engagement activities and community partnerships Represent the school at meetings and events as needed - Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure adherence to district policies, state regulations, and federal guidelines Assist in preparing reports, documentation, and compliance requirements
Working Conditions:
School-based environment with extended hours as needed Participation in evening and weekend events as required Salary:
