Job Summary
Medication Assistant Treatment Nurse (Dosing Nurse) provides nursing care to patients with addiction. The role monitors and adjusts medication within limits approved by the prescriber, administers medication in accordance with Federal OMT Guidelines, assesses for intoxication, and acts as a liaison between client, staff, and other care providers as needed. The nurse also provides information, education, and support to clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Administers medications to patients, monitors dosage, side effects, and documents reactions, including methadone and other medications as ordered by the prescriber.
- Provides medication training to the patient, patient’s family, or guardian to administer the patient’s medication, monitor proper dosage levels, and watch for side effects.
- Obtains laboratory specimens and assists the prescriber with patient examination and continuity of care arrangements with other providers.
- Conducts intake for new recipients, explains services, gathers intake information, obtains consents, and submits materials for processing.
- Assists service recipients with linkages to internal and external resources as outlined in the treatment plan and in coordination with the Integrated Healthcare Team.
- Maintains contact with referral sources, provides information on service recipient progress, behavior, and needs (with appropriate release), and maintains ongoing consultation as appropriate.
- Participates in committees, staff meetings, clinical staffings, and other internal meetings as assigned.

- Education:
Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program. - Experience:
Entry‑level position. - Licensure:
Registered Nurse.
