The Certification Specialist serves as the lead within the Registrar’s Office for NAIA athlete certification, ensuring compliance with eligibility requirements under the authority of the Registrar. This role also supports student eligibility monitoring for graduation, assists with graduate certification, and acts as a school certifying official for military students. The position requires strong collaboration with the Athletic Office, Faculty Athletic Representative, and various university departments to ensure seamless processes for students.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- NAIA Athlete Certification:
- Serve as the lead in the Registrar’s Office for NAIA athlete certification
- Ensure compliance with NAIA eligibility rules and regulations
- Act as a liaison between the Athletic Office and the Faculty Athletic Representative to facilitate athlete certification
- Graduation & Degree Certification:
- Monitor student eligibility for graduation and assist in the certification of graduates
- Provide graduation information to students and university departments as needed
- Assist in verifying that graduates have met all degree requirements prior to awarding diplomas
- Support large-scale events such as Student Registration, Commencement, and other university programs
- Military & Veteran Student Certification:
- Serve as a School Certifying Official for military students
- Process VA certifications for education benefits for students enrolled in IWU-Marion programs
- Manage Tuition Assistance processing for military students
- Provide general advising on military education benefits, ensuring students understand available resources (excluding academic advising)
- Assist in maintaining and updating content on the military/veteran portal site to ensure accurate and helpful information
- Maintain a working relationship with the State Veteran’s Administration office, assisting with audits and responding to inquiries
- General Office Support &
Collaboration:- Cross-train in other Registrar’s Office functions to serve as a backup as needed
- Assist with answering phones, directing calls, and providing general information to students, faculty, and staff
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Education
- Experience in higher education, student services, or registrar-related functions preferred

- Must have the ability to manage multiple processes simultaneously
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external agencies
- Proficiency in relevant student information systems and databases preferred
