Summary of Position

Provides leadership support for Indiana Wesleyan's efforts in the Intercultural & Global Office with recruiting and retaining ethnically diverse students at IWU, programming through the Intercultural & Global Office, and support across a variety of programs for diverse and global students, faculty, and staff. The assistant will collaborate closely with the office staff to plan and implement initiatives that promote the holistic well‑being and support of multicultural student‑athletes and artists.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Spiritual Formation & Discipleship
    • Assist the Executive Director to establish a culture of Christ-centeredness through one-on-one discipleship for American ethnic, international, MK, and TCK students and the implementation of spiritual practices in IGO that honor the Imago Dei, foster intercultural engagement and reconciliation, and inhibit personal spiritual growth, including:
      Bible Study Groups.
    • Collaborate with the Spiritual Formation office to host Kingdom Diversity small groups in The Lounge in different languages.
    • Prayer:
      Create ways for students to submit prayer requests and pray for each other.
    • Multicultural Worships:
      Host multicultural worship services with a diverse form of cultural expression, language, and traditions grounded in the Wesleyan faith.
    • Devotions:
      Send weekly spiritual reflections via email to the IGO community, featuring inspiring Scripture and biblical understanding of Kingdom Diversity.
    • Mission trips:
      Provide students with the opportunity to put their faith into action by serving in local or global settings during spring break.
    • Spiritual trips:
      Offer trip opportunities like attending a conference (Mosaix), a worship concert, etc., that will encourage and promote spiritual growth in the students' lives 1:1 Discipleship.
  • Cultural Programming / Events
    • Assist the Executive Director in the advising process for the IGO’s Intercultural Christ Ambassadors with organizing and executing impactful external campus-wide cultural programming, celebrating heritage months, promoting racial reconciliation, and global engagement.
    • Coordinate and oversee all internal cultural programming in the IGO Lounge and The SPOT to encourage cross-cultural community building and foster a sense of belonging for multicultural students.
    • Support key IGO signature events, including:
      Beyond Borders Day of Common Learning, Monthly Cultural Heritage Celebrations, and additional multicultural programs and events designated by the Executive Director.
    • Coordinate, plan, and lead life skills and professional workshops in the Intercultural & Global Office, equipping students with essential skills for personal and professional development while fostering community and belonging.
  • Student Leadership Development
    • Manages the recruitment (applications and hiring), training, and ongoing development of the IGO’s Intercultural Christ Ambassadors Program, ensuring they are equipped to support intercultural programs and initiatives effectively.
    • Assist the Executive Director with the SALT training, and IGO’s pre-orientation curriculum and retreat logistics to onboard student leaders in their roles, preparing them to engage in Kingdom Diversity efforts and interactions both professionally and intentionally.
    • Assist the Executive Director with leading bi-weekly leadership programming as needed, focused on personal, spiritual, and professional development, including key areas such as leadership competencies, business acumen, and Cultural Intelligence (CQ).
    • Assist the Executive Director with intentional CQ training workshops for Residence Halls and Student Leaders across campus.
  • Scholarship Program Partnerships
    • Luther Lee Scholars:
      Develop and implement strategies to improve the recruitment of high-caliber Luther Lee scholars.
    • Empower Luther Lee scholars to support growth, resilience, and leadership success by coordinating co-curricular activities and programming that consist of holistic care (Academic success, CQ training, servant and leadership development, character formation and spiritual discipleship, social connections).
