Plant Controller (Marion, IN) About the Role
We need a Plant Controller to own the financial and accounting responsibilities for the business unit while supporting plant operations across quality, food safety, compliance, and administrative functions.
ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the Corporate Controller, you will work closely with him and the Division President, providing essential financial insights and management reporting to guide decision‑making. You will collaborate daily with plant leadership, commercial and operational teams, quality assurance, and administrative staff. You will also serve as a key liaison to financial auditors, the corporate finance group, and local ERP/system upgrade teams, ensuring alignment across departments and locations.
- Lead and execute all financial accounting, reporting, and monthly close activities for the plant.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and internal management reporting.
- Supervise accounts payable, invoicing, accounts receivable, and banking processes.
- Track capital project spending and cost fixed assets in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Maintain plant‑level tax compliance (sales/use and property tax) and provide information for federal/state corporate income tax cycles.
- Support administrative functions for quality assurance, food safety, regulatory compliance, and food defense.
- Provide financial analysis to the President and Plant Manager and support annual financial audits.
- Oversee local ERP usage, support system upgrades, and maintain accurate tracking of grain receiving, yields, and finished‑goods inventory.
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting certification (CPA or CA), active or inactive.
- Previous professional accounting experience; 10+ years in senior‑level finance or accounting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and financial project accounting.
- Advanced proficiency with financial software and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead small teams.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing/plant environment, including physical activity and availability for after‑hours or on‑call needs.
