Job Title:
Lead CNC Programmer (1st Shift)

Job Description

This role leads CNC programming and production activities in a growing machine shop, overseeing approximately 7-10 CNC machines on 1st shift. You will create and optimize Mazak programs, support daily production, and provide hands-on leadership to machinists and operators to ensure efficient, high-quality output.

Responsibilities
  • Create, optimize, and troubleshoot CNC programs, with a focus on Mazak controls using Mazatrol and G-code.
  • Support daily production by resolving machining issues and improving machining efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and support machinists and operators on the shop floor to ensure consistent performance and quality.
  • Set up jobs, verify tooling, and confirm that all setups meet established quality and safety standards.
  • Inspect parts and verify conformance to specifications, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Coordinate workflow and production priorities across approximately 7-10 CNC machines to meet delivery and quality targets.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in processes and productivity.
  • Troubleshoot production challenges by interpreting blueprints and adjusting programs, tooling, or setups as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of programs, setups, and process changes to support repeatability and standardization.
Essential Skills
  • Strong Mazak programming experience, including Mazatrol and G-code.
  • in a production or machine shop environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing or machine shop setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy using appropriate measuring tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address production and machining challenges.
  • Experience supporting multiple CNC machines simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills to lead and mentor shop floor personnel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines.
  • Experience working in a small, team-oriented machine shop environment.
  • Comfort working in a role that combines programming, setup, troubleshooting, and leadership responsibilities.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production demands.

Work Environment

The position offers the opportunity to work up to 54 hours per week, including overtime, depending on production needs. The shop operates multiple CNC machines, including Mazak equipment, and emphasizes a stable, team-oriented atmosphere where collaboration and mutual support are essential.

This is a Permanent position based out of Marion, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $93600.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
