Quality Assurance Specialist
Support production and quality initiatives by ensuring products meet internal and customer specifications throughout manufacturing and prior to shipment. Identify, document, and control nonconforming materials, perform audits and testing, and promote quality standards through effective communication, training, and collaboration with operations and management.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities- Promote and support the company's safety-first culture by following safety procedures, using required PPE, and immediately reporting unsafe conditions.
- Execute and support the SQF program through inspections, audits, reporting, and monitoring compliance with established procedures.
- Perform scheduled and roving production audits; document and communicate findings to management.
- Identify, quarantine, label, and document nonconforming materials and finished goods for proper disposition.
- Conduct line changeover inspections, including first-article inspections, mix-prevention checks, and initial testing.
- Verify production paperwork, quality checks, testing results, and measurements for accuracy and compliance.
- Release conforming finished goods for shipment and hold questionable or untested material as required.
- Inspect, measure, and document daily retain samples.
- Maintain document control by ensuring production records are completed accurately and archived properly.
- Assist with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives related to customer complaints, scrap, rework, and process issues.
- Support 6S activities through audits and workplace inspections.
- Participate in meetings, training, Kaizen events, site visits, and improvement initiatives.
- Perform duties outlined in applicable Control Plans.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Accurate and timely shift reporting and communication.
- Effective management of nonconforming materials, testing requirements, paperwork completion, and changeover processes.
- Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality.
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent.
- Strong math skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality standards
- Team-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to coach, train, and support employees at all levels
- Ability to understand and apply quality standards
- Ability to perform visual and dimensional inspections
- Proficient in the use of measurement equipment, including:
Scales, Calipers, Micrometers, Go/No-Go gauges - Strong visual inspection and color differentiation abilities
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Suites
- Ability to learn and effectively use Microsoft Teams and Share Point
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
