Student Support Associate
Immediate Supervisor:
Building Principal or Designee
- Assist the classroom teacher in supporting students to increase academic, social, and behavioral skills.
- Implement student‑specific goals and objectives from IEPs, including functional academic programming and individualized instruction.
- Provide supervised activities to promote independence, responsibility, and participation in inclusive classroom settings.
- Ensure a safe, orderly environment, enforce rules, and manage classroom behavior with positive reinforcement strategies.
- Administer first aid, CPR, medication and other medical needs as directed by the teacher or nurse.
- Assist with the preparation, serving and cleanup of meals when required.
- Document behavioral data, incident reports, and IEP progress.
- Participate in team meetings, IEP discussions, and professional development sessions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred experience working with students, especially in special education or behavior‑challenged settings.
- Certification in CPR (adult, child and infant) with AED and barrier device training;
First Aid preferred. - Crisis Prevention Intervention training preferred.
- Valid license or certification for mandatory child abuse reporting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to stand continually, lift and carry weights up to 80 pounds to waist level, shuttle supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, and work in varied temperature and weather conditions.
Work EnvironmentWork indoors and outdoors in a school setting, including play areas, assembly halls, and field trips.
