Position: 1st Grade Teacher.

Linn-Mar Community School District, Linn Grove Elementary, Marion, Iowa.

• Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicate them to students.
• Identify students' needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans.
• Communicate with parents regularly through newsletters, e‑mail, notes, phone calls, and conferences.
• Discuss student problems, behavior incidents, positive developments, and progress with parents in an honest, sensitive, and confidential manner.
• Promote parent participation and involvement in education activities.
• Collaborate with staff to plan and schedule lessons and follow approved curricula.
• Confer with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavioral and academic problems.
• Identify signs of emotional, developmental, or health‑related problems and discuss with supervisors, parents, or specialists.
• Engage in collaborative work and contribute to team planning.

• Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science using the district’s course of study and appropriate learning activities.
• Provide individual and small‑group instruction tailored to students’ communication, health, and development needs.
• Create instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction for students with diverse maturities.
• Enrich the program with field trips, classroom visits from community members, and interpretation of such experiences.
• Teach citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and district regulations.

• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, offering individualized and small‑group instruction.
• Plan activities to stimulate academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Plan and conduct balanced activities to provide opportunities for observation, questioning, and investigation.
• Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Create effective learning environments with displays, interest centers, and student work exhibits.
• Prepare for assigned classes and retain written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare objectives and outlines for courses following curriculum guidelines.

• Implement activities that stimulate academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Foster cooperative social behavior through group projects.
• Encourage singing, dancing, rhythmic activities, and use of art materials for preschool‑K.
• Encourage creative expression in art, music, and dramatic play for preschool‑K.
• Instruct on personal cleanliness and self‑care.
• Develop students’ awareness of their worth and role in family and community.
• Utilize technology, audiovisual aids, and other equipment in instruction.
• Participate actively in the IEP process.
• Use research‑based teaching strategies for guided reading groups.
• Engage students in varied experiences that promote growth.

• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, maintaining records and progress reports.
• Use assessment materials and conduct classroom student assessments.
• Administer, correct, and record results of tests.
• Maintain accurate and complete student records per laws, district policies, and regulations.
• Administer standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results.

• Establish, implement, and enforce rules for appropriate behavior, maintaining a fair, supportive, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
• Model and maintain responsible student behavior standards.

• Attend district‑provided professional in‑service activities and teacher training workshops, as well as self‑selected professional growth activities to maintain and improve competence.
