Position Description
- The Senior RF Electrical Engineer serves as a key technical contributor in the design, development, and validation of advanced RF systems and products. This role requires deep hands-on expertise across the engineering lifecycle from requirements definition and architecture through design, integration, test, and production support. This role applies strong analytical skills, practical design experience, and sound engineering judgment to deliver high-performance solutions that meet demanding customer requirements.
- Designs, models, and analyzes RF circuits and subsystems across VLF through UHF frequency bands, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Performs hands-on lab work, including prototype creation, tuning, characterization, and troubleshooting.
- Participates in multi-disciplinary design reviews and contributes technical insight to drive solutions.
- Collaborate with the team to debug and refine pre-production designs and ensure cohesive, integrated system performance.
- Translates customer needs into actionable engineering requirements and design approaches.
- Independently manages engineering assignments, establishes technical goals, and develops plans to meet schedule and performance objectives.
- Provides technical input to risk assessments and design decisions throughout the development cycle.
- BA degree in a STEM discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Five or more years of hands-on RF design experience with emphasis on VLF through UHF frequency bands
- Proficiency with RF design and simulation tools, CAD software, and laboratory test equipment.
- Strong expertise in communications engineering, including transceiver architecture, power amplifiers, antenna systems, filters, and related RF components.
- Familiarity with RF measurement techniques, key performance parameters, and associated test methodologies.
- Working knowledge of software design concepts, Digital Signal Processing (DSP), and Software Defined Radio (SDR) architectures as they interface with RF hardware.
- Understanding of relevant radio performance and testing standards (military, commercial, FAA).
Skills and Abilities
- Experience leading US Government research and design programs in RF, electronic warfare, or advanced communication systems.
- Demonstrated success in technical proposal development and customer engagement.
- Strong system-level mindset with the ability to integrate electrical hardware, software, and mechanical elements into cohesive solutions.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes, test methodologies and quality assurance practices.
