Sub Food Service Delivery/District Courier Driver

Location: Marion Independent School District Transportation/Maintenance - Marion, Iowa

Reports to: Director of Operations

Basic Function

To support the District by providing prompt and regular delivery and retrieval on a daily basis of Food supplies or equipment, warehouse supplies, furniture, equipment, textbooks, etc to various locations throughout the School District.

Essential Functions
  • Pick up the food truck at a designated/assigned location.
  • Help in unloading/loading food supplies to schools.
  • Load and deliver breakfast and lunch items to schools.
  • Pick up and deliver trays and pans back to VMS and MHS (or appropriate locations).
  • Process recycling.
  • Keep your assigned vehicle fueled, clean and properly equipped.
  • Deliver any other items to the schools as needed per director or custodial.
  • Obey all traffic laws.
  • Report accidents and complete required reports.
  • Help to maintain the standards of health and safety with staff and students.
  • Dress in appropriate attire for the job and weather.
  • Demonstrate organization and professionalism in your responsibilities.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with all staff, students, parents and community.
  • Maintain confidentiality in the school program.
  • Always be willing to be flexible.
  • Deliver/Process interoffice mail.
  • Pickup gate cash and deliver to the appropriate location.
  • Take deposits to the bank. Return deposit bags to the appropriate location.
  • Substitute Preparing or Serving In Food Service Kitchens as needed.
  • Need to have Strong Management Skills.
Specifications/Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Have a current driver's License and good driving record.
  • Be able to drive a delivery truck.
  • Background Check.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel objects, tools or controls; talk and hear. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and forward.

The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp items. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move heavy food carts and transport any cases of items for delivery to other schools. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts.

Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly.

The position requires the commitment of professional working hours. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the District including retrieving items near the floor, standing, in movement.

The employee will usually work outside or in kitchens/coolers/gyms where temperatures can fluctuate due to seasonal changes.
