Anticipated Opening for the 2026-27 School Year
Title: Anticipated Special Education Coordinator
Department: Administration/Coordinator
Responsible To: Assistant Superintendent of Academics/Special Education Director
Contract: 224 days per year
Salary: Commensurate with experience and administrative salary schedule. Salary is dependent upon education and experience.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience and experience as Special Education Department Head
- Must hold a Special Education License
- Experience writing IEP/ETRs
- Experience with RIT or MTSS processes
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
Job Goal: The Student Services/Special Education Coordinator assists in planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring special education programs and services across the district. The Coordinator ensures compliance with federal and state laws, supports building administrators and intervention teams, facilitates effective special education programming, and promotes positive educational outcomes for students with disabilities. The Coordinator serves as a liaison among schools, families, and community agencies while supporting district initiatives related to special education, intervention services, and inclusive educational practices.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing district special education programs and initiatives.
- Coordinate special education services and support across district buildings.
- Support the development and implementation of district procedures related to special education.
- Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements to services and instructional practices to the Director of Special Education.
- Collaborate with principals and district administrators to ensure consistent implementation of special education programs.
- Assist with planning for staffing, service delivery, and student programming needs.
- Monitor compliance with the requirements of the:
- Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
- Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Review IEPs, Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs), and other special education documentation for compliance and quality.
- Assist with district monitoring activities, audits, and corrective action plans.
- Provide guidance to staff regarding IEP development and implementation.
- Assist with complex IEP meetings and problem‑solving discussions.
- Support transition planning for students moving between programs, buildings, and postsecondary settings.
- Promote inclusive practices and access to the general education curriculum.
- Assist with state testing coordination (e.g., AASCD)
- Assist with collection, analysis, and reporting of special education data.
- Support state and federal reporting requirements.
- Serve as a resource for families regarding special education services and procedures.
- Support efforts to build collaborative relationships with families and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and facilitate professional development related to special education compliance, instructional practices, and district procedures.
- Assist with maintaining inventories of special education materials and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Maintain appropriate licenses/endorsements and training hours as required.
- Comply with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Adhere to all standards established by the Ohio Department of Education for Licensed Educators.
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
