POSITION SUMMARYProvide leadership to plan and implement departmental strategic and operational goals that enable the program to achieve its purposes and advance the mission of Marion Technical College (the “College”). Demonstrate aptitude to implement instructional strategies, teach assigned courses, assess student learning, develop curriculum, advise students, maintain accreditation, and grow community and employer partnerships.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Demonstrate ability to network and promote programs with outside organizations and agencies; develop education relationships; and possess exceptional organizational skills to manage and continue development of the engineering technology services and learning programs.
- Apply department and other resources toward the development and innovation of both credit and non-credit courses and curricula; investigate and implement new courses, programs, and instructional delivery methods, including distance and technology-mediated learning; supervise department instructional processes; continuously improve the student assessment plan; and develop department projects consistent with instructional and strategic objectives and policies. Work with program advisory committees to support and manage the Engineering Technologies programs.
- Provide direction to market department programs and assist in the recruitment, admission, advisement, and registration of students, in coordination with Admissions and Marketing. Coordinate the articulation of department programs with high schools, colleges, and universities, including Career Pathways Support Networks. Maintain appropriate and accurate files on all department activities, and course syllabi. Promote the Engineering Program career areas and disseminate appropriate information.
Schedule department meetings as required. - Network and create partnerships with employers, organizations, and other companies within the College's service area to promote and support the department's cooperative education and internship programs.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean of STEM in the oversight of the marketing, instruction, equipment maintenance, and scheduling for the Mobile Training Lab.
- Teach courses in accordance with established objectives and syllabus; evaluate student learning. Provide continuity and reinforcement of the teaching/learning process throughout the curriculum. Develop, coordinate, and maintain the department plan to assess student academic achievement.
- Respond to inquiries from students, College employees, and customers in a timely manner; maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with the College, HIPAA, FERPA, student records, and any other protected documentation.
- Develop and maintain a team-based, customer service culture. Monitor departmental activities and customer satisfaction. Identify areas for improvement and implement a constructive plan to meet customer service standards.
- Assure that the appropriate department programs meet the accreditation and approval standards of the appropriate accreditation agency and other governing bodies; develop and advance the College and Engineeringprograms, curriculum, faculty, students, and policies in relation to accreditation requirements.
- Provide leadership to develop and fulfill the College and the department's mission, including all instructional programming, new program development, communication with constituencies, enrollment management, the evaluation and assessment of student learning, instructional support services, curriculum development and program evaluation, courses and curricula.
- Conduct, maintain and review program evaluations, assessment plans, accreditation reviews, and institutional program review, data, and associated policies and procedures; develop schedules for all program operations including faculty instructional schedules, classes, student advising, meetings, accreditation preparation and reviews, etc.; manage program operations to sustain financial viability in accordance with institutional measures, including maintaining a…
