Substance Use Counselor (Correctional Program Coordinator)

Marion Correctional Institution, 940 Marion-Williamsport Road, Marion, OH 43302.

Compensation: $29.08 per hour.

Schedule:

Full‑time, Monday‑Friday with occasional evenings.

Union: 1199 (Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit).

Responsibilities
  • Provide alcohol and drug group counseling and ancillary services to participants on your caseload.
  • Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge planning documented in the electronic health record.
  • Engage clients and provide referrals to Medication‑Assisted Treatment, naloxone, and community linkage services.
  • Monitor and evaluate participant progress in substance‑use programs.
  • Provide continuing care planning.
  • Facilitate two concurrent cohorts of treatment programming with a 1:15 participant ratio.
  • Monitor volunteer activities and oversee fellowship and support meetings.
Qualifications
  • Current certification or credentials in one of the following:
    Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II;
    Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III;
    Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor;
    Licensed Independent Social Worker;
    Professional Clinical Counselor;
    Professional Counselor;
    Licensed Social Worker;
    Licensed Physician;
    Licensed Psychologist;
    Registered Nurse;
    Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist;
    Licensed Independent Marriage & Family Therapist.
  • Ability to work in a correctional environment, including potential exposure to dangerous inmates and need to work weekends or travel.
  • Active disciplinary record and work record meet requirements.
Unusual Working Conditions

May be exposed to potentially dangerous inmates or juveniles; may be required to work weekends and travel; work is on a fixed shift basis.
