Performs and/or assists with ordered radiographic procedures while ensuring quality exams and a minimum of radiation exposure. Performance of these exams is to be done in a way to provide/maintain proper documentation, safety and dignity of all patients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • The technologist is accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to radiology practice.
  • Performs and/or assists in performing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures of a complex and sophisticated nature by following physician’s orders and applying the learned methodologies according to established policy and procedure within Medical Imaging and throughout the hospital.
  • Reviews images to assure adequate quality of radiographs.
  • Takes call as required.
  • Trouble shoot minor equipment problems and initiate repairs.
  • Provides pertinent and appropriate information to patients, physicians, medical center personnel and others encountered in the performance of their duties in a manner that fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources, and quality patient outcomes.
  • Accepts responsibility for complying with, contributing to, and meeting the requirements of the quality assurance plan, continuous quality improvement, state and federal regulations, EPA, FDA, ACR, HFCA and other regulatory bodies as they relate to Radiography services.
  • Maintains registry and/or state licensure status by gaining 12 credits or more per annum.
  • Assures the efficient operation of the department by performing support duties. Assists secretarial and support personnel in the performance of their duties.
  • Assists in the orientation and/or education of students, new employees, and/or Co-workers. This role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon St. Luke need or requirements.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to speak, read and write in English; see, hear, use fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and tactile abilities; follow multiple verbal and written instructions. Should possess problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze simple data. Must be able to make rational decisions based on factual information. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Weights vary depending on weight of patient.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education/

    Experience:

    Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology school with certificate or diploma, or equivalent education with current license in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    General clerical skills. Ability to speak, read and write English, manual dexterity and physical agility to operate all equipment and perform all assigned or delegated tasks. Utilizes safe body mechanics to ensure patient and caregiver safety. Current BLS certification.
  • Other qualifications/certificate/license: ARRT® in good standing or registry eligible. ARRT® must be gained within one year of employment for registry eligible candidates. Must be able to obtain State of Kansas Licensure and maintain license in good standing.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
