Extrusion Maintenance Technician II 2nd Shift

Base Pay Rate: $25-$33.50 per hour plus $1 per hour shift differential
2nd Shift: 2:30pm - 11:30pm, Monday – Friday
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Responsible for safely performing emergency and preventative repairs to plant machinery and infrastructure and minimizing production time losses associated with breakdown or failure of production equipment.
- Informs the Maintenance Supervisor when supplies require replenishment and provides ordering information.
- Responsible for development and review of standard operating procedures for maintenance personnel.
- Ensures all maintenance work areas remain clean and safe.
- Understands and complies with quality and environmental management system principles.
- Familiar with basic electrical concepts and uses VOM and non-contact voltage testers to test energized circuits.
- Understands mechanical fastener types and can select and install various fasteners.
- Dispenses and applies lubricants and understands lubricant properties and charts.
- Demonstrates basic machine shop skills and machine safety.
- Participates in TPM initiatives.
- Understands hydraulic and pneumatic valve configuration, operation, and components.
- Can weld, braze, solder, cut metal and prepare for arc welding jobs.
- Uses block and tackle, chain hoists, slings, levelers, come-alongs, jacks and winches to lift or move equipment.
- Inspects heavy lifting hardware and cranes and performs heavy lifting tasks.
- Inspects, assembles and disassembles scaffolding.
- Utilizes basic lifting equipment correctly.
- Interprets basic blueprint components including scales, symbols, and dimensions.
- Working toward or holding an Associate degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Trained in LOTO, electrical/mechanical safe work practices, ladder safety, CPR, respiratory protection, incipient-stage fire response, confined space entry, fall protection, enclosed space entry, aerial lifts, and PIT.
- Basic PC skills.
- Strong communication and time‑management skills.
- Occasional heavy lifting of motors, pumps, extruder screws, etc. at low frequency.
- Equipment provided to move/manipulate heavy components.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs continuously above shoulder height and below waist.
- Ability to squat, crawl, reach above shoulders, kneel and balance.
- Ability to perform repetitive actions such as simple grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulation with both hands.
- Experience working with various chemicals.
- Confidence working on scaffolding, ladders and platforms.
- Experience in confined space conditions.
- Wearing proper PPE.
- Handling hazardous waste with appropriate PPE.
- Working near energized circuits, hot equipment or materials.
