Overview
The Production Operator is responsible for setting up and operating machinery to epoxy coat and fabricate rebar in accordance with work orders and shop drawings. This role ensures product quality and supports timely delivery to customers.
Essential Job Functions- Review fabrication schedules and work orders
- Set controls to create desired bend, cut or angle
- Activate machine with hand controls
- Inspect bars for quality; touch up end of bars with paint
- Complete paperwork; tag or label each order; daily production records
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times
- Assemble cardboard shipping boxes on pallets
- Operate overhead crane, forklift, or other equipment to retrieve or remove steel
- May package and band boxes of fabricated steel
- 40 hours per week – 10 hour shifts Monday through Thursday
- Mandatory overtime as required seasonally
- Fixed shifts – 1st shift 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 2nd shift 4:30 PM – 3:00 AM
- Stand and walk continuously
- Lift, carry, push, and pull 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance
- Climb, bend, twist, reach, and crouch frequently
- Eye, hand, and foot coordination to operate in a safe and productive manner
- Vision to read at least 12-point font from 3 feet away
Bender, shear, CNC, overhead cranes, forklift, cutters, hand tools, tags and bands, measuring devices, angle finder.
PPE and MaterialsPPE required: steel toe safety shoes; provided: earplugs, safety glasses, gloves and hard hats.
Materials and products handled:
Rebar and paint.
Heat, cold, noise, vibration, fumes, and other potential work hazards.
RequirementsEducation/Training/Experience –
LICENSE REQUIRED or DESIRED
:
- 6 months to one year of on-the-job training
- Basic math skills, ability to read a tape measure, and ability to read and comprehend work orders
- Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment is desired
