Industrial Truck Operator
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various industrial trucks (gasoline, liquefied gas, or electric) to move, stack, and retrieve materials. This role involves precise handling of lifting apparatuses to transport goods across the facility, ensuring production lines remain supplied and inventory is organized.
Job Duties and
Essential Functions:
- Safely drive and maneuver various industrial trucks (gasoline, liquefied gas, or electric) equipped with specialized attachments (forks, clamps, or elevating platforms).
- Perform precise material handling, loading, and tiering of materials into high-density storage areas.
- Ensure production lines are constantly supplied with raw materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory documentation, including recording weights or quantities on production schedules and labels.
- Perform basic equipment upkeep, such as lubricating parts or managing battery/gas levels.
Based on medical criteria for Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) operators, the following physical and medical standards must be met:
- Vision: Visual acuity must be correctable to 20/40 in each eye with no double vision and no tropia. The operator must have a normal field of view and color vision. Monocular vision requires individual evaluation.
- Hearing: Hearing loss must be no more than 25 dB loss at 500, 1,000, and 2,000 Hz in the best ear without a hearing aid.
- Musculoskeletal: There must be no ergonomic impairment of the use or strength of the back, fingers, arms, or other bio-mechanical defects that may interfere with the ability to safely operate a PIT.
- Medical Fitness: The operator must be "fit for duty" and have no uncontrolled illness that has the potential to cause unexpected loss of consciousness, equilibrium, or compromise mental alertness and judgment, including issues related to alcohol and drug abuse.
- Lifting: The role requires continuous lifting of 1–5 lbs, frequent lifting of 5–35 lbs, or occasional lifting of 35–60 lbs.
Education:
HS Diploma or GED
Certifications/Licenses required: PIT License
