Job Description

This role is for an experienced CNC Machinist working on 2nd shift in a modern parts manufacturing division. You will set up and operate a variety of CNC and manual machine tools, interpret blueprints, and produce precision components to exacting specifications. The position offers consistent full-time hours with significant opportunities for overtime and incentive-based compensation, as well as initial training on 1st shift if needed.

Responsibilities
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using shop math to ensure parts meet specification requirements.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and job instructions to design and implement effective set-ups.
  • Set up and operate CNC machine tools, including mills and lathes, to machine precision components.
  • Work with Toshiba Turning Centers and other CNC turning centers to produce high-quality parts.
  • Use in-house work tracking software to accurately record labor hours and job progress for each assignment.
  • Perform daily maintenance on assigned machine tools and related equipment according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with shop standards and safety practices.
  • Use quality control tools such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to verify part accuracy.
  • Apply knowledge of shop math, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to optimize machining processes.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Perform changeovers and set up machines for different jobs as required.
  • Assist with basic programming or editing of CNC programs using G & M codes when necessary.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with team members and supervisors to achieve production and quality objectives.
  • Work 2nd shift hours from Monday to Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. (40 hours per week).
  • Be available for overtime when requested, including potential Friday hours from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and Saturday hours from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Comply with all company policies, including passing pre-employment and random drug testing.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience as a CNC machinist with hands-on operation of CNC and/or manual machine tools.
  • Experience with one or more of the following machine tools:
    Horizontal Mill, Horizontal Lathe, Vertical Mill, and Vertical Lathe.
  • Ability to perform CNC set up, including fixturing, tooling, and part alignment.
  • Working knowledge of G & M codes and CNC programming concepts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in shop math for calculating dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining procedures and metal properties.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to achieve production and quality objectives.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift and 40–55 hours per week, including overtime and off-shift work during busy periods.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the facility.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Megaturn Vertical Turning Centers is a plus.
  • Experience with Toshiba TUE 200 Vertical Turning Centers is a plus.
  • Experience with troubleshooting machining issues and performing efficient changeovers.
  • Familiarity with shop floor work tracking or manufacturing execution software.
  • Comfort working with both CNC and manual machine tools in a production environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a high-precision manufacturing setting.
