CNC Machinist – 1st Shift - Up to $32/hr!
This role is for a CNC Machinist working primarily on 1st shift in a modern parts manufacturing division. You will set up and operate CNC and manual machine tools, interpret blueprints, and ensure high-quality production of precision components.
Responsibilities
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using strong shop math skills to ensure precise machining of parts.
- Design and execute machine set-ups based on blueprint and specification requirements.
- Operate and work with CNC Turning Centers and other machine tools to produce high-quality components.
- Use in-house work tracking software to accurately record labor hours on specific jobs.
- Maintain assigned machine tools and related equipment according to the daily maintenance schedule.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in accordance with shop standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints and use related quality control tools such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to verify part quality.
- Perform troubleshooting and changeovers on CNC and manual machine tools to support efficient production.
- Assist with or perform basic CNC programming as required for production jobs.
- Apply knowledge of metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to select appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with team members and supervisors to achieve production and quality objectives.
- Work overtime and off-shift hours during busy periods when requested to meet customer and production demands.
Essential Skills
- Experience operating CNC machine tools, including mill and lathe equipment.
- Experience with one or more of the following machine tools:
Horizontal Mill, Horizontal Lathe, Vertical Mill, and Vertical Lathe. - Ability to perform CNC set-ups, including fixture installation and tooling selection.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately for machining operations.
- Proficiency with G & M codes for CNC machining (reading and applying as needed).
- Experience with CNC and/or manual machine tools in a production or job-shop environment.
- Ability to use quality control tools such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to inspect parts.
- Strong knowledge of shop math, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and perform changeovers efficiently.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to support teamwork and production goals.
- Willingness to work 40–55 hours per week, including overtime and off-shift work during busy periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Reliable transportation to and from the facility.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Megaturn Vertical Turning Centers is a plus.
- Experience with Toshiba TUE 200 Vertical Turning Centers is a plus.
- Familiarity with in-house or shop-floor work tracking software for capturing labor hours.
- Exposure to both CNC programming and manual machining operations.
- Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and support different shifts when needed.

Work Environment
