Position: Registered Nurse - Living Center

Job Summary

This position is a part of a multidisciplinary care team. The nurse provides general nursing care to the residents e Living Center. The nurse contributes to the overall resident care which is guided by the resident care plan, facility policies and procedures, and professional standards of practice.

Essential Functions
  • The RN assesses and provides resident care within established policies and procedures and professional standards and with consideration and respect for the resident choices, privacy, dignity and independence. This includes making regular rounds observing resident care, answering resident call lights, communication with and assisting co‑workers in resident care and documenting pertinent information into the resident records timely and accurately.
  • Admits new residents to the Living Center and coordinates care, medications and orders for the resident.
  • The RN reports pertinent observations and concerns to the Living Center Manager and Director of Aging Services. Reports and communicates resident and staffing concerns.
Physical / Mental Demands / Environment

Must be able to speak, read and write in English; see, hear, use fine motor skills, eye‑hand coordination, and tactile abilities; follow multiple verbal and written instructions. Should possess problem‑solving skills and the ability to analyze simple data. Must be able to make rational decisions based on factual information.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires current RN License for the state of Kansas, maintain current CPR certification. The nurse must have the ability to apply appropriate nursing techniques and maintain team building skills. Effective verbal, written and computer skills are essential.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Assesses and provides effective and safe resident nursing care to contribute to the resident’s overall plan of care.
  • Admits residents and coordinates plan of care, medications, and orders for the resident.
  • Prepares, administers and charts routine and PRN medications and treatments to comply with the residents’ overall plan of care.
  • Assesses residents’ physical condition routinely and documents necessary findings.
  • Makes provisions for physician visits and communication with medical staff and other providers to ensure resident physical and physiological needs are met.
  • Completes documentation, clinical records and forms to ensure continuity and quality of resident care in a timely manner.
  • Performs safety and infection control procedures to ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and staff. Complies with facility policies and procedures.
  • Assists with QA tasks such as MARS, TARS, skin assessments and audits and reports to Living Center Manager.
  • Oversees resident care provided by the CNA and assumes nurse aide duties as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the long‑term care unit when needed for the residents.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of adequate staffing in the long‑term care unit including staff communication, monitoring, training, and production.
  • Scheduled hours include working weekends. Weekends include every other weekend and at times may include the other weekends for coverage working with our residents.
  • Scheduled days include holidays.
  • The care of our residents is our utmost priority. The employee is expected to work scheduled shifts. Employees are also sometimes required to cover for another employee on any shift. It is everyone’s responsibility to step up and help cover shifts when unexpected and validated requests arise. Refusal to work requested hours may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
  • Employees needing a day off or if they are ill on their scheduled day, it is the employee’s responsibility to find their own replacement.

3 12‑hour shifts per week to include every other weekend and rotating holiday schedule.
36 hours per week
