Director of Finance | Dynamics 365 - Retail
Job Description
Dynamic leadership seat reporting directly to ownership at a fast‑growing Canadian wireless company. The right person will take a MS Dynamics 365 environment that is underused today, tie multi‑location POS data into the ERP, and design the team and processes from the ground up. If you have come up through a wireless or retail finance seat and you have been waiting for a build with real authority, this is that role.
Company- Canadian retailer with multiple store locations
- Entrepreneurial, owner‑led leadership team that moves at the pace of the business
- Revenue mix tied to subscriptions and related accessories
- Same company environment that recently promoted its Senior Accountant into the Controller seat
- Base salary: up to $160,000 CAD
- Bonus eligible. Target percentage and structure confirmed at offer stage
- Hybrid model, four days per week in office (North York, ON)
Finance Director who can handle the complexity, volume, and pace of a multi‑location retail business. This is a hands‑on senior seat that sits between managing finance and driving data analytics, reporting directly to the interim CFO. The person in this role builds the architecture of the finance team, redesigns processes where needed, and gets a Microsoft Dynamics environment working harder than it is today.
- Build the architecture of the finance team and redesign processes from the ground up where needed
- Drive real, hands‑on use of Microsoft Dynamics and unlock more value from a system that is underutilized today
- Tie POS data to the ERP across multiple retail locations and deliver cleaner, faster reporting
- Own/Manage all accounting functions: month‑end close, P&L, cash, cost accounting, credit, and payroll, including reporting to financial institutions and carrier partners
- Lead monthly and annual financial reporting, including forecasts of income, expenses, and earnings against past and expected operations
- Build the financial business plan for the company and individual store performance, and confirm the accuracy of operating and financial reports
- Build and maintain budgeting systems that control spend across marketing, labour, maintenance, and projects
- Analyze trends in revenue, costs, and obligations to surface insights, working across both finance management and data analytics
- Advise ownership and leadership on resource allocation, the financial impact of new initiatives, and opportunities to improve the business
- Run projects end to end with the authority and ownership of a senior leader, at the pace of an entrepreneurial business
- Drive process improvements across accounting functions and automate the POS‑to‑financial‑system connection
- Manage and develop the finance team to deliver consistent performance
- CPA Designation
- 8+ years of Finance experience
- Real, hands‑on Microsoft Dynamics experience.
- Background in wireless, telecom, or retail with direct exposure to the POS to ERP connection
- Comfortable in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment with heavy data mining
- Entrepreneurial, self‑directed doer who takes charge without waiting for direction
- Track record running projects independently at the level of a senior manager at a larger company, ready to step up
- Able to redesign a team and its processes, not just operate within an existing structure
- Strong communicator who can move at the pace of owner‑led leadership
- Freedom Mobile, other Rogers dealers, and other Bell dealers were named as strong sources for this profile
- Whiteboard. This is a build, not a maintain. The next Director gets to redesign the function rather than inherit someone else's architecture.
- Direct line to ownership. Work shoulder to shoulder with the leadership team. No layers between you and the decisions.
- Real authority on the system. Microsoft Dynamics is in place but underused. The person in this seat owns getting more out of it.
- Pace and complexity. High volume, fast moving, entrepreneurial. The kind of environment where a doer outperforms a planner.
- Step‑up opportunity. Strong fit for a senior manager at a larger company who is ready to own the director seat and the build that comes with it.
