The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and motivated actuarial professional to join our dynamic, high-performing Commercial Pricing team. The Commercial Pricing team plays a critical role in driving the profitability and growth of Aviva’s commercial insurance portfolio. Through advanced actuarial analysis, predictive modeling, and data‑driven insights, we support strategic pricing decisions across a diverse range of Property and Casualty products. Our work directly influences business performance and helps shape the future of commercial insurance at Aviva.
What you’ll do:- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across Head Office and the field; understand stakeholder needs and develop tailored analytical solutions that maximize business value.
- Maintain and enhance SAS‑based pricing processes and tools; drive process improvements and automation opportunities to improve efficiency and analytical capability.
- Coach and mentor junior analysts and co‑op students; contribute actively to Aviva’s actuarial community.
- Pricing and Portfolio Management: lead and support rate reviews across a variety of commercial products, coverages, and market segments; develop clear, data‑driven pricing recommendations and effectively communicate insights to stakeholders to gain alignment for proposed actions.
- Predictive Analytics and Model Development: collaborate with Data Science teams to develop, enhance, and validate predictive models that improve pricing accuracy and effectiveness; balance technical rigor with business objectives to ensure practical, high‑impact solutions; translate complex analytical concepts into clear business insights for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Small Business Pricing: support the growth and profitability of Aviva's Small Business portfolio, including pricing initiatives within Ally; identify opportunities to improve pricing sophistication and portfolio performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline (equivalent experience will also be considered).
- Minimum 3 years of Property and Casualty actuarial experience, preferably in pricing.
- Completion of at least 3 SOA or CAS exams, with continued progress toward designation.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Proficiency in programming and data analysis; experience with SAS required, while VBA, Python, R, or other analytical tools are considered assets.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality work in a collaborative environment.
- Salary band: $90,000 to $110,000 (individual salary determined by job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity).
