As the business enters its next stage of growth, the organization is seeking an experienced commercial leader to strengthen its sales, product management, and marketing functions.
The Opportunity
The Director of Sales and Marketing will provide strategic and hands-on leadership across the organization’s commercial functions. Reporting to the President and working as a member of the senior leadership team, this individual will establish commercial direction, strengthen execution, and create alignment across sales, product management, marketing, customers, and manufacturer partners.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a commercially minded executive who can balance strategy, financial discipline, customer relationships, and people leadership in a growing and evolving organization.
The scope and priorities of the role may evolve as the company continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities Sales & Commercial Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop Sales and Product Managers while strengthening accountability, succession planning, and collaboration across the commercial organization.
- Establish and execute annual sales, gross margin, and commercial growth objectives.
- Lead annual business planning across sales territories, product categories, supplier strategies, and marketing priorities.
- Improve sales forecasting, pipeline management, CRM adoption, pricing discipline, and commercial reporting.
- Establish clear performance metrics and accountability across the sales organization.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for a portfolio of scientific and laboratory solutions.
Product & Portfolio Management
- Provide strategic direction for product portfolio development and management.
- Evaluate supplier and manufacturer relationships, including opportunities to expand or rationalize the portfolio.
- Guide pricing, positioning, market opportunities, and growth strategies across product lines.
- Identify underperforming product categories and develop appropriate improvement or exit strategies.
- Identify opportunities for new products, adjacent markets, and complementary solutions.
Marketing Leadership
- Develop and execute the overall marketing strategy in alignment with corporate and commercial objectives.
- Oversee digital marketing, campaigns, events, content development, lead generation, and customer engagement initiatives.
- Establish measurable marketing objectives and evaluate return on marketing investment.
- Strengthen the connection between marketing activity, lead generation, sales pipeline development, and revenue growth.
Customer, Supplier & Partnership Management
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with strategic customers, manufacturer principals, suppliers, and business partners.
- Represent the organization credibly with key customers and industry stakeholders.
- Identify and develop new strategic supplier relationships and partnership opportunities.
- Strengthen collaboration between commercial teams and external manufacturer partners.
Cross-Functional & Organizational Leadership
- Partner closely with Operations, Customer Service, Finance, and other functions to improve the end-to-end customer experience.
- Balance revenue growth, gross margin, working capital, and customer requirements when making commercial decisions.
- Lead practical change initiatives that improve commercial effectiveness, reporting, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Provide commercial insight and recommendations to the President and senior leadership team.
