Position

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Backhoe Operator to support our residential construction projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating backhoes and other heavy equipment, with a strong understanding of excavation practices, jobsite safety and cleanliness, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

· Operate backhoes and other equipment (as needed) to excavate, move, and grade earth

· Dig trenches for foundations, utilities, and drainage systems

· Load/unload materials and assist in site preparation and cleanup

· Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance

· Follow site plans, instructions from site superintendent, and safety regulations

· Work as part of a collaborative construction crew

· Installing patio slab and walkways

· Maintain and repair water boxes

· Manage garbage bin relocations and emptying throughout the site as per site superintendent instructions

· Oversee winter protection, including insulating tarps and straw, during winter months

· Manage propane and natural gas tanks and heaters during the winter months

What You Bring

· Proven experience as a Backhoe Operator in residential construction or similar field

· Valid operator’s license and any required certifications (e.g., OSHA preferred)

· Strong understanding of safety protocols and equipment capabilities

· Ability to read blueprints and site drawings a plus

· Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions

· Physical ability to perform the job, including lifting and working outdoors in varying conditions
