Position: Mechanical Maintenance Technician-2

Overview

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our operations & maintenance team in a large industrial environment, including clean rooms. The technician must provide intermediate-level expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and delivering preventive maintenance on facility systems.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to work orders and troubleshoot industrial facility equipment and systems such as HVAC, compressors, chillers, boilers, robotics, pumps, bearings, blowers, fans, gearboxes, air handlers, and other equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective electrical and mechanical maintenance on all facility‑related industrial systems, including HVAC, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, filtration systems, and coolant systems.
  • Identify and correct safety‑related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to anticipate failures.
  • Maintain safety guidelines, including job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and wearing PPE.
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC machinery, cooling systems, pneumatic or hydraulic systems, conveyors, overhead cranes, heat exchange equipment, and other process/production equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, hoists, cranes, and use safe rigging and lifting techniques.
  • Fabricate, weld, perform plumbing and hydraulic hose repairs, and troubleshoot electrical issues.
  • Use diagnostic instruments to support energy efficiency solutions.
  • Communicate with customers on work orders and recommend improvements to maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Utilize hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform tasks on schedule.
  • Respond to additional duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of maintenance experience in Industrial HVAC / Industrial Mechanical Machine Repair, or Automotive Repair.
  • Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift up to 30 feet or higher.
  • Valid driver's license (may be required).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Millwright Certification, Associate's degree, or trade school certification in Industrial Mechanical, HVAC, or a related field.
  • Experience with 480‑volt 3‑phase electrical systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial HVAC/R equipment, conveyor systems, coolant systems, vacuum systems, and RO/DI water systems.
  • Advanced PLC experience (e.g., Allen Bradley, PLC‑5, 500, RS‑5000).
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools, air measuring instruments, refrigeration equipment, electrical meters, and shop equipment.
  • Experience in a CMMS environment and in supervising a team of maintenance personnel.
  • Experience performing vibration analysis or ultrasound testing for predictive maintenance.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, and other gauges.
Physical Requirements
  • Repetitive wrist movement, walking extensively, and the ability to climb ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, stretch, and move at 90‑degree angles.
  • Ability to differentiate color codes on wires and read/display information on computer screens.
  • Ability to use office equipment and operate a computer keyboard.
  • Communicate effectively by telephone and in meetings.
  • Ability to lift light to medium‑weight materials and interact professionally with clients.
  • Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends.
Compensation

CAD 30.62 – CAD 32.62 per hour (good‑faith estimate). Actual compensation may vary based on responsibilities, experience, and market data.
