Industrial Electrician

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Electrician to join our operations & maintenance team. The position is responsible for providing an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on facility electrical and mechanical equipment in an industrial, large commercial, or logistics distribution environment, including clean rooms. It requires diagnosing and troubleshooting all electrical equipment and systems—motors, drives, low voltage controls, lighting, PLCs, HVAC, chillers, etc.—and

related mechanical components. The role demands strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to identify and correct safety‑related issues, and perform independent equipment evaluations to anticipate failures. General maintenance of equipment will also be required.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoot, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment up to 480‑volt 3‑phase and facility systems such as rooftop units (RTUs), doors, lighting, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor control circuits.
  • Apply knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) in the USA or the Canadian Electrical Code in Canada.
  • Use the building automation system to track building conditions and the operation of facilities equipment.
  • Utilize strong electrical and mechanical skills to complete assignments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on industrial electrical control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Troubleshoot electrical components such as PLCs, AC & DC drives, relay logic, single‑loop controllers, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Conduct predictive maintenance activities, including infrared (IR) thermographic inspections of electrical distribution systems to identify hot spots, load imbalances, loose connections, and equipment degradation.
  • Validate work orders, provide service and feedback to the customer, and ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Enforce safety regulations, following job hazard analysis, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, and wearing PPE as required.
  • Operate measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to support energy‑efficiency solutions.
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics/prints, updating assigned electrical prints/schematics for modification.
  • Operate hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility in day‑to‑day activities for customer benefit.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Licensed Master Electrician, Journeyman's License, or equivalent certification.
  • Three years of experience as a maintenance electrician in an industrial environment, or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
  • May require additional licensing per state regulations.
  • Pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and fit test for several types of respirators.
  • Pass a pre‑employment substance abuse test.
  • Obtain a security access badge at the client’s location.
  • Read and understand information in a variety of documents or on a computer screen.
  • Fluency in the Microsoft product line.
  • Obtain an appropriate driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in industrial electrical or a related field.
  • Six years of maintenance experience in one of the following trades:
    Industrial HVAC, Industrial Mechanical Machine Repair, or Automotive Repair.
  • Experience working safely with 24V, 120V, 277V, and 480V 3‑phase circuits.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial lighting systems.
  • Experience installing conduit.
  • Experience troubleshooting motor controls and electric motors.
