The Dual Ticketed Millwright & Electrician, under the direction of the Stouffville Plant Manager, is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose equipment issues, read schematics and blueprints, fabricate parts as needed, and document all maintenance activities in the CMMS system while adhering to safety standards and deadlines.
PLEASE NOTE:
This position will spend the first 6 months of employment at our Utopia facility (8807 County Road 56, Utopia, Ontario) for training.
- Plan, lay-out, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in buildings and other structures.
- Schedule, undertake and record periodic maintenance on all equipment, components, and installations to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair in compliance with codes and specifications.
- Schedule and prioritize assigned tasks with strong adherence to deadlines.
- Use machine tools (grinders, drill press, saws) to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance set up of machinery.
- Prepare sketches or read and interpret blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance as required.
- Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and provide preventive maintenance services.
- Detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Collect machine error messages and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
- Ensure that equipment is in good working order to prevent disruption of activities and reduce time.
- Provide prompt response to inquiries if there is a breakdown and resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
- Read electrical/ mechanical schematics and drawings.
- Follow standard maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, basic documentation, and proper safety techniques.
- Enter all work performed into the CMMS daily.
- College education / College of Trades (Trades specific) and apprenticeship.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a licensed Electrician OR licensed Millwright.
- Valid Red Seal Certificate:
Industrial Electrician 442A OR Construction & Maintenance Electrician 309A AND Industrial Mechanic Millwright 433A. - Demonstrated Electrical and basic Mechanical aptitude.
- Thorough Knowledge of Low and Medium Voltage Distribution, programmable logic controller, variable frequency oscillator, motors and the use of computer.
- Sound understanding of conveyors, pumps, granulators, pneumatics, and working knowledge of industrial tools.
- Experience with Mig & Stick Welding.
- Demonstrated ability to read hydraulic schematics and pneumatic drawings.
- Familiarity with standard maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, basic documentation, and proper safety techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
