Alta Material Handling is currently looking for a full‑time Forklift Service Technician / Mechanic for our Quebec City, QC branch. This position is day shift Monday to Friday, hourly (no flat rate). The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities- Performing preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing all forms of customer equipment
- Completing each repair job in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
- Providing exceptional customer service
- Working and managing workloads independently
- Properly completing and submitting all required paperwork
- Incorporating Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Maintaining consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time
- Potential sign‑on bonus available
- At least two years of mechanical repair experience in forklift, auto, diesel, agricultural, or heavy equipment repair
- Previous field experience is highly preferable
- Excellent mechanical aptitude
- Possess own tools
- Must have a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Intermediate language skills: ability to read, interpret, and write routine documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Intermediate reasoning ability: capacity to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands regularly; frequent talking/hearing; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Frequent bending and working from a prone position (lying down while working underneath equipment)
- No special vision requirements
- Regular lifting of up to 10 pounds; frequent lifting of 11 to 25 pounds
- Work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions; occasional wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration
