Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Marlborough, Massachusetts. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting key financial processes. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

- Manage tasks related to the month-end closing process, including resolving operational discrepancies and finalizing accounting cycle procedures.

- Prepare and submit sales and use tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

- Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to maintain the accuracy of financial data.

- Assist with external audit processes by gathering and providing required documentation.

- Investigate inventory variances through daily cycle counts to ensure accurate reporting.

- Analyze labor utilization and overhead expenses as part of cost accounting duties.

- Review and analyze monthly financial data to identify fluctuations in key expense categories.

- Ensure all accounting activities comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

- Perform general ledger entries and reconciliation tasks with precision and attention to detail.

- Collaborate effectively with team members and provide clear communication on accounting-related matters.

Requirements

+ Bachelors degree in accounting

+ 2-3 years' experience with true GL (JEs, reconciliations, balance sheet ownership,) and the close

+ Manufacturing & Cost Accounting experience highly preferred

+ MS Dynamics (GP) a plus

+ Advanced Excel required (ptabs, sum ifs, vlups etc)

+ Someone career minded looking to grow and learn
