The Revenue Staff Accountant will play a critical role in the accounting department with a focus on revenue recognition, analysis, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and a thorough understanding of revenue accounting standards, such as ASC 606.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare monthly revenue journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Analyze and verify financial information to ensure accurate revenue reporting.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of revenue recognition policies in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
- Review customer contracts and identify revenue-related issues.
- Collaborate with the sales and legal departments to ensure that revenue-related terms in contracts are compliant with accounting policies.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes by providing timely and accurate financial information.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports, highlighting revenue streams and trends.
- Participate in the development and implementation of internal controls related to revenue.
- Support external and internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to revenue accounts.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting regulations, industry trends, and best practices in revenue accounting.
- Work on special projects and analyses as requested by management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on revenue recognition.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles, specifically ASC 606.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
This role typically operates in an office environment during regular business hours, although some overtime may be required during busy periods such as month-end or year-end close.
Physical RequirementsThe position is primarily sedentary, requiring long periods of sitting, as well as frequent use of a computer and other office equipment.
Compensation and BenefitsThe annualized base salary range for this role is $53,800 to $84,300 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
