Hillside School, a Junior Boarding School serving grades K-9, is seeking an enthusiastic teacher for our 4th/5th Grade classroom. We are looking for someone with a strong academic background and passion for teaching students beginning in September 2026. The ideal candidate is able to tailor instruction to help students develop interest and excitement for the subject matter and to differentiate instruction based on individual needs to help every student achieve academic success

This candidate should be prepared to teach 4th & 5th grade material to all levels of learners in a self-contained classroom. Subjects covered include reading, social studies, math, and science. Other desired qualifications include being a team player, a sense of humor, and a creative and positive approach to teaching.

Qualified candidates should embrace boarding school life. They must be willing to teach a full schedule (16-20 periods per week), coach two seasons of sports, and reside on campus covering scheduled dorm duties on evenings and weekends. All candidates must pass a background check and comply with school health protocols to be considered.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience differentiating instruction to meet a wide range of learner needs.
  • Background in teaching across core subjects: reading, language arts, math, social studies, and science.
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, or IB (preferred, if applicable).
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to design engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons.
  • Skilled in integrating technology and digital tools into instruction.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to assess and track student progress effectively and provide meaningful feedback.
