School to Career Specialist
Location: Marlborough High School, Marlborough, Massachusetts
Starting Date: Immediately
Work Year: 2026-27 School Year, 185 Days, 6.5 hours per day (exclusive of lunch)
Responsibilities- Act as liaison between middle school and high school, assisting students in preparing for and choosing high school.
- Work with middle school students to identify strengths and interests using tools such as My Career and Academic Plan (MYCAP).
- Oversee interns in work‑based learning opportunities, including site‑based visits.
- Conduct and train employer partners in completing performance evaluations and collecting work‑based learning plans.
- Assist interns in reflecting on internship experience, identifying skills gained and how to leverage them.
- Address employment‑related issues, serve as liaison between students and employers.
- Guide students in using Naviance assessment tools to identify strengths, opportunities, and potential career pathways.
- Partner with the MPS community, Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), area employers, and other community organizations to grow internship and career exploration opportunities.
- Conduct application intake process and personal interviews to assess student interest in work experience.
- Develop and implement field trips, career pathway exhibits, and other events to build relationships with employers.
- Provide work readiness services and workshops:
- Resume writing, interviewing skills, business etiquette, employer expectations.
- Assist students in researching, networking, and finding internships.
- Other workshops as related to the program.
- Facilitate engagement of school administration, guidance staff, and teachers to raise awareness of opportunities.
- Manage Marlborough Summer Jobs Program:
- Recruit employers to hire students for summer work experiences.
- Work with the City of Marlborough to assist students in finding summer work through the city.
- Adhere to Department of Elementary and Secondary Education mandates for program and placement protocol.
- Collect and submit participation and success data on scheduled deadlines.
- Perform other responsibilities as defined by the principal or designee.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Five (5) years’ experience working with students and/or employment training programs; related experience considered.
