Job Description

Title of Position: Executive Director of Student Management Systems

Work Year: (12) Months/ 260 Days

Effective Date of Employment: July 1, 2026

Salary Range: $140,000 - $150,000 annually

Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority: The Executive Director of Student Management Systems reports directly to the Superintendent and serves as a member of the District Leadership Team. The Executive Director directly supervises and evaluates the following positions and body of work:
Student Discipline and Behavioral Systems, Attendance and Re-engagement Coach, Data Systems Administrator, Title IX Compliance Processes, Registration Center Staff, McKinney-Vento, Translation and Interpretation Services Personnel. The Executive Director may also oversee additional student support, compliance, and data management personnel as assigned.

Summary

The Executive Director of Student Management Systems provides strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination of the district's student management infrastructure, ensuring that systems, processes, and practices support student engagement, attendance, belonging, safety, compliance, and overall student success. The Executive Director is responsible for developing and maintaining coherent district wide systems related to student discipline, attendance and school re‑engagement, student information and data management, Title IX compliance, student registration and enrollment, McKinney‑Vento and translation and interpretation services.

Working collaboratively with district and school leaders, the Executive Director ensures that operational and compliance systems remove barriers to student access and participation while advancing the goals outlined in the Marlborough Public Schools 2030 Strategic Plan and the district's Portrait of a Learner.

Statement of Duties Strategic Leadership and Systems Alignment
  • Develop and implement a district wide vision for all student management systems aligned with the Marlborough Public Schools 2030 Strategic Plan and Portrait of a Learner.
  • Ensure coherence, consistency, and alignment across student attendance, behavior, enrollment, compliance, and student information systems.
  • Lead the development of integrated systems that support student engagement, connectedness, and access to educational opportunities.
  • Collaborate with district leaders to identify and eliminate systemic barriers that negatively impact student participation, attendance, engagement, and achievement.
  • Utilize continuous improvement processes to strengthen student management systems and organizational effectiveness.
  • Partners directly with the Executive Director of Clinical Services.
Student Discipline and Behavioral Systems
  • Provide leadership and oversight of district wide student discipline practices and behavioral management systems, including bullying prevention and intervention.
  • Ensure implementation of fair, equitable, restorative, and educationally sound disciplinary practices.
  • Monitor discipline data and trends to identify disparities and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support school administrators in the consistent application of district policies, student codes of conduct, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Lead district efforts to reduce exclusionary discipline practices and improve student connectedness and engagement.
  • Supports the coordination of disciplinary hearings and related compliance requirements as necessary.
Attendance and Student Re‑engagement
  • Lead district wide attendance improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise and support the Attendance and Re‑engagement Coach.
  • Develop systems for identifying, monitoring, and supporting students experiencing chronic absenteeism.
  • Coordinate cross‑departmental interventions that address attendance barriers and improve student engagement.
  • Analyze attendance trends and implement targeted strategies to improve student participation and school connectedness.
  • Ensure compliance with state attendance regulations and reporting requirements.
Data Management and Student Information Systems
  • Oversee the integrity, accuracy, security, and effective use of student data systems.
