Position: Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) Inspection & Performance Tuning Engineer

Our client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in Boiler Inspection and Tuning to join their team. You will travel to various domestic and international sites, which will amount to approximately 50–70% of your time.

  • This position involves conducting inspections, performance testing, and tuning of boilers and Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
  • You will be responsible for conducting tests and ensuring emissions compliance, and improving system reliability. Conducting testing and making adjustments to enhance efficiency, ensure compliance with ASME emission standards, and improve system reliability.
  • The ideal candidate should have hands‑on inspection experience, a strong understanding of mechanical and thermal systems, and the ability to diagnose and optimize combustion and performance issues in the field.
  • You will be responsible for conducting detailed inspections of boilers, Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG), and auxiliary systems. This includes performing visual, mechanical, and ultrasonic evaluations.
  • Your tasks will include conducting boiler performance testing and tuning to optimize efficiency, ensure emissions compliance, and enhance system reliability.
  • You will analyze operational data, such as NOₓ, CO, O₂, steam flows, pressures, and temperatures, to identify performance gaps and recommend corrective actions. It will be essential to document your inspection findings, prepare technical reports, and provide recommendations for repairs, upgrades, or tuning adjustments.
  • You will support troubleshooting of combustion, mechanical, and performance issues on‑site and participate in outage planning and execution to ensure accurate scope definition and inspection coverage.
  • You must ensure compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and industry codes during inspections and field activities.
  • You will collaborate with engineering teams, and customers will be necessary to communicate results, propose solutions, and support implementation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience with boiler or HRSG inspection and performance tuning
    .
  • Experience in power generation, utility, or heavy industrial boiler environments.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ASME Boiler Code, NBIC, ASME PTC).
  • Hands‑on experience with tuning software, instrumentation, and portable emissions analyzers.
  • Previous field service or OEM inspection background.
