Commissioning Engineer

Location:

U.S. Based (Extensive Travel Required; Possible International)

Compensation:
Up to $150,000 (Based on Experience) + OT (after 45 hrs/week) + Per Diem

We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer responsible for startup, testing, and performance validation of steam generation and boiler systems for industrial and utility applications. This role ensures newly installed or retrofitted equipment is safely brought online, fully optimized, and compliant with all technical and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform startup, commissioning, and functional testing of boilers, burner management systems, and auxiliary equipment
  • Conduct inspections, trial runs, and system verification to ensure safe operation prior to turnover
  • Optimize combustion performance, fuel firing, emissions, and boiler efficiency
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues during commissioning and startup phases
  • Ensure compliance with ASME codes, environmental regulations, and customer specifications
  • Develop and execute field test procedures, commissioning reports, and performance documentation
  • Provide training and operational guidance to plant personnel on safe system operation
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and client teams to maintain project schedules
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and boiler systems
  • Prior experience in commissioning, field engineering, or power generation startup work
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and combustion systems in the field
  • Strong communication skills for client-facing and cross-functional coordination
