Job Summary
The Test Technician III will provide high‑level direct support to Doble customers and clients worldwide, performing testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair in‑house on a variety of Doble test equipment. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, self‑directed individual with elite electronic technician skills and experience. Test Technician III will interact with all levels of management, Doble customers/clients and employees throughout the organization, both domestic and international, necessitating strong communication, high technical and customer‑service skills.
As a Test Technician III at Doble you will provide a high level of technical service to our valued customers, make technical and quality‑related decisions daily, and serve as the go‑to person for specific Doble products. You will communicate regularly with our customers/clients and represent Doble in these interactions. This position is located in our Marlborough, MA office and reports to the Customer Support Operations Manager.
Job Functions
- Test/calibrate new production Doble test equipment
- Calibrate, upgrade, test, and repair both customer‑owned and Doble‑leased test equipment
- Record all test data and failure information in the production system
- Assist customers/clients with technical telephone support, including remote troubleshooting of systems
- Provide full in‑house repair, test, hardware and software upgrades, and calibration services on Doble test equipment
- Fulfill customer sales orders
- Make recommendations to improve quality or production test methods
- Use analog & digital troubleshooting techniques and equipment to troubleshoot to board or sub‑assembly level
- Perform related duties as assigned by Customer Service
- Train and mentor less senior test staff
- High school diploma or some college (Associate’s Degree in Electronics/Electrical) or Electronic Technician Certificate
- Experience with electronic test equipment, oscilloscope, DVM, frequency counters
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to proactively communicate status & issues to internal and external customers
- Ability to meet critical deadlines while managing multiple priorities
- Must thrive in a deadline‑driven, fast‑paced team environment
- Primary point of contact for at least one Doble product line
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Customer Service Technician II or equivalent
- Proven high level of system test, troubleshooting and repair of power industry test equipment
- Familiar with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with Navision ERP software
- Experience with test, upgrades, troubleshooting and repair of various Doble test equipment
- Experience with nuclear industry calibration requirements for test equipment
- Experience with power industry high voltage test equipment
While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co‑workers, and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds.
Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds.
Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job‑related skills, and relevant education or training experience.
Hourly Pay Range:
Minimum $30.59 – Midpoint $38.24
