HRSG Field Technician

Location:

U.S. Based (Extensive Travel Required)

Compensation: $75,000–$100,000 (DOE) + OT (after 45 hrs/week) + Per Diem

We are seeking a HRSG Field Technician responsible for on-site installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) systems
. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient startup and operation of large-scale power generation equipment at customer facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee installation, mobilization, and erection activities for HRSG systems at customer sites
  • Direct subcontractor work and ensure compliance with safety (EHS), ASME codes, and project specifications
  • Perform inspections of HRSG piping, structural components, and mechanical systems
  • Execute commissioning activities including hydrotests, chemical cleaning, blowdowns, valve settings, and startup checks
  • Troubleshoot and support repair of plant systems such as condensers, feedwater heaters, and heat exchangers
  • Interpret P&IDs, welding procedures, lifting plans, and technical drawings
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical representative
    , coordinating with customers and project teams
  • Maintain detailed site documentation and progress reporting
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred (or equivalent field experience)
  • 2–5+ years of experience in power plant construction, commissioning, or maintenance
  • Strong understanding of boilers, HRSG systems, piping, welding, and mechanical systems
  • Experience working in industrial or field environments with strong safety awareness
  • Ability to travel extensively (up to 100%) and work in demanding conditions
Work Conditions
  • Field-based role with 3–5 month project assignments
  • Heavy travel during peak seasons (spring/fall)
  • Work may include 6–7 day weeks during outages or peak project phases
  • OT paid after 45 hours + per diem based on location
