Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to join our multidisciplinary team of transportation planners and traffic/highway engineers. This role involves leading and delivering a diverse portfolio of complex award-winning public transportation initiatives and fast-paced private development projects.
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:
* Lead and manage the execution of traffic engineering projects, including planning, analysis, design, and construction support ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and stakeholders
* Prepare and review technical reports, traffic studies, and design plans
* Oversee traffic analysis using tools such as Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, or similar software
* Prepare and deliver clear, effective public presentations to stakeholders, agencies, and community groups.
* Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to technical staff, supporting team development and performance.
* Develop, maintain, and strengthen client relationships to support ongoing and future work.
* Support and actively contribute to business development efforts, including proposal preparation, strategy, and client engagement.
* Monitor project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation
* Execute work in accordance with internal quality procedures, applicable codes, legislation, and industry standards to ensure project compliance and technical excellence.
* Actively pursue continuous learning opportunities to maintain a high degree of technical knowledge and professional competency in transportation/traffic engineering.
* Promote and maintain a culture of safety by working in a safe manner at all times and promptly reporting all health and safety incidents or concerns.
* Perform additional tasks as required to support project goals, team objectives, and company initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
* Licensed Massachusetts State Professional Engineer (PE), with 10+ years of transportation design experience.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong knowledge of traffic operations, signal design, and safety analysis
* Prior experience managing transportation projects and leading project teams
* Experience working in multi-disciplinary project settings
* Familiar with MassDOT design and permitting requirements and the MEPA regulatory process.
* Active and clear driver's license, including a successful clearance of a Motor Vehicle history check.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks, attending meetings, or preparing design documentation.
* Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, printers, and other office equipment.
* Visual acuity to review detailed drawings, specifications, and computer screens for extended periods.
* Ability to clearly communicate through speech, hearing, and written correspondence in person, virtually, and via telephone.
* Ability to travel to and from project sites, client meetings, and other offices as required.
* Physical capability to walk, stand, climb stairs or ladders, and navigate uneven terrain, active construction sites, and partially completed structures.
* Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials, drawings, or equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds.
