Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety (RMS) Engineer

U.S. citizen required. Must maintain an active DoD Security clearance (Secret).

• Generate inputs to Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and reliability and maintainability analyses in accordance with Military Standards (MIL-STD) and Military Handbooks (MIL-HDBK) such as MIL-HDBK-217F and MIL-STD-1629A.
• Participate in and perform failure tracking and trending as part of Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
• Conduct MIL-STD 882E System Safety Program compliant tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400).
• Facilitate safe and usable systems through participating in design reviews.
• Review, monitor, and track hazardous materials (e.g. NAS 411) used throughout systems and document any needed mitigations.
• Support compliance audits that demonstrate how internal processes and procedures are used on programs.

• Experience in an engineering field.
• Experience in writing technical reports.
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.

• Experience with Human Systems Integration (HIS) focusing on Human Factors Engineering (HFE).
• Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) based communication systems.
• Experience with Reliability and Maintainability predictions.
• Familiarity with military standards such as MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-HDBK-338B, MIL-HDBK-470, MIL-STD-1629A and their applications.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-1472 and the application of MIL-STD-1472 requirements.
• Experience with MIL-STD-882E and conducting hazard analysis on complex systems.
• Experience with Software Safety as outlined in MIL-STD-882E.
• Experience with hazardous material tracking (e.g. NAS-411) and mitigations.
