System Safety Engineer

Raytheon's System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department ensures product safety by identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing solutions to protect people, hardware, and the environment. Leveraging rigorous engineering principles, the team integrates safety into every phase of the system lifecycle, enhancing reliability and safeguarding our warfighters.
We are currently hiring for System Safety Engineers. This is an onsite role and can be located in Woburn, Tewksbury, Marlborough, Andover, MA or Portsmouth RI.
What You Will Do:- Supporting execution of the safety strategy for the program to meet all its milestones with system safety features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and awarded funding
- Support the program schedule and integrated system safety tasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
- Engage the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for guidance on technical execution, artifact review, attending customer reviews, etc.
- Support multi-IPT program meetings to ensure that system safety items are considered and to understand current program-wide issues
- Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigations
- Analyzing engineering software and/or firmware in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, and other relevant standards
- Working with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code
- Participating in the execution of the Software System Safety Program
- Interfacing with various stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors
- Assisting with the preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval
- Assisting with software safety technical reviews
- Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards
- Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and design
- Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience with systems, software or test engineering
- Experience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400)
- Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
- Experience writing technical reports and presentations
- Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations
- Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines
- Experience interfacing with other engineering functions:
Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering - Experience managing Working Groups

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
