Metrology Engineer

IPG Photonics continues to expand with new opportunities in our Massachusetts locations. The Metrology Engineer will be a part of a cohesive group involved in development and characterization of optical components and systems using laser-based advanced techniques.

Duties:

Set up and complete experiments on an optical table, including optical alignment, optical and electrical assembly and testing, gathering and presentation of experimental data

Operate and maintain variety of optical, test and analytical instruments

Test all aspects of optical components, critical for laser development and manufacturing

Participate in design and development of laser-based measurement tools

Develop measurement methodology, control plans and protocols

Requirements:

Advanced degree in Science or Engineering, preferably with major in Optics or Lasers or BS with 5+ years of directly related industry experience
Hands-on experience with lasers and optical components
Experience with optical metrology
Working knowledge of Python or MATLAB
Experience with optical and electrical test equipment, such as interferometers, oscilloscopes, etc.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, organize and prioritize workload
Excellent communication and organizational skills
