Senior Mechanical Designer

Location:
Marlborough, MA

Direct Hire | $80,000 - $130,000

Join a growing engineering team where you'll utilize advanced CAD technologies, collaborate across departments, and mentor junior designers while developing innovative mechanical, piping, and structural designs for large-scale industrial equipment.

Education Requirements
  • Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent design experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical drafting, fabrication methods, and industrial design standards.
Experience Requirements
  • Proven experience using Navisworks (model integration, clash detection, and model reviews).
  • Advanced experience with AutoCAD 2D/3D, Plant 3D, Inventor, and Vault.
  • Experience creating piping layouts, isometric drawings, pipe supports, ductwork, pressure parts, or similar industrial systems.
  • Ability to review customer specifications and develop compliant, cost-effective designs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing vendor design deliverables and outsourced drafting work.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior designers.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Job Duties
  • Create and revise 2D drawings, 3D models, piping layouts, equipment assemblies, and structural designs.
  • Generate bills of materials, isometric drawings, layouts, and fabrication details.
  • Perform design reviews to ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Conduct Navisworks model integration and clash detection reviews.
  • Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, construction teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead design efforts during proposal and project execution phases.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and drawing deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to design team members.
