Under the supervision of the Senior Ultrasonographer, provides direct patient care services and other related functions in support of the department. Performs independently within scope of department policies as an Echo Cardiac Sonographer. Clinically works at the direction of a qualified Cardiologist.
Major Responsibilities- Properly performs all echocardiology examinations including Transesophageal technique, in compliance with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
- Gather pertinent clinical data and maintain accurate patient records.
- Accurately complete all records, paperwork and exams.
- Position and transfer patients appropriately and assist physicians with interventional exams.
- Promptly and properly transfer digitized echo studies to the Echo PACS system and perform necessary manipulation of data.
- Assist in maintaining an orderly inventory and arranging the purchase of needed supplies.
- Monitor equipment to ensure it remains in proper working order and ensures proper supplies are available as needed.
- Utilize proper sterilization and cleansing of all probes according to department policy and procedure.
- Assist with other job-related duties including film processing, urgent requests and scheduling.
- Assist with an equal amount of on-call coverage.
